Biomedical Center Munich (LMU) - Part 1

At the Biomedical Center (BMC) of LMU Munich, about 55 research groups explore the individuality, diversity and mutability of cells. The BMC unites eight divisions and institutes of the Medical Faculty of LMU Munich under one roof. With its research focus on “Cell fate and plasticity – from basic mechanisms to pathology and repair” the BMC aims at bridging the gap between basic research and clinical application. Embedded in the Life Science Campus Großhadern/Martinsried, the BMC offers an outstanding research infrastructure and excellent conditions for top-class interdisciplinary research and teaching.

In immediate vicinity of the BMC are the LMU University Hospital, the Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy with the Gene Center, BioSysM and the Institute of Chemical Epigenetics, the Faculty of Biology, the German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE Munich site), the Institute for Stroke and Dementia Research, the two Max Planck Institutes for Biochemistry and Biological Intelligence, and the Innovation and Start-up Center for Biotechnology (IZB). To provide scientists of the BMC and beyond access to cutting-edge high-tech methods and the concomitant technical expertise, the BMC runs six Core Facilities for Bioinformatics, Proteomics, Bioimaging, Flow Cytometry and Biophysics, as well as Animal Models.

In this virtual tour, we will introduce you to two of the core facilities at the BMC: Core facility 1: Protein Analysis and Core facility 2: Flow Cytometry.
